Historians and anthropologists have been unhappy for quite some time about constructing history with current political administrative or cultural units in mind, as is still the case with mainstream or textbook historiography. The present volume is intended as a contribution to the continuation and extension of various ideas and models relevant to the ongoing discussion. It integrates the most comprehensive of these models, i.e., the little kingdom model, and post-modern historiography.
